Bocce Ball – Sept 20th Welland Club – chat with Hugh.
Guest Speaker: Alistair Davies – CEO Habitat for Humanity Niagara
Alistair shared the trauma of a recent Habitat home recipient who had a house fire on Labour Day weekend.  The neighbours garage caught fire.  The family has been housed in hotels with limited supplies just as school starts for the kids.  They had their home only 6 weeks.   Habitat worked hard all Labour Day weekend to find supports for family.  Donations are available on the website.
Alistair expressed appreciation for the van, sponsored jointly by our club and the Welland club.  He reiterated the importance of community groups such as Fonthill rotary and their support for Habitat – e.g the store and builds.  He questioned how Habitat could make connections in Pelham to get support for a home build here as has been done in numerous communities including Grimsby.
There will be 5 homes built in Welland next year.  The housing crunch has significantly impacted families which Habitat traditionally supports.
Habitat is currently working on a pair of semis in Niagara Falls.  One family needs a bathroom lift for their child.  Alistair is seeking info on where to get grants and funding support to finance this.
Please work to support Habitat in gaining a foothold in Pelham.  Also please connect with Alistair regarding funding opportuntiies for the lift for this family in the Falls.
Happy Loonies
The Youth Exchange group were looking forward to their weekend together.
We were happy to have Tia with us – she is looking forward to attending more regularly.
We were happy to have the Wellspring sod turning.
