March 14th meeting minutes President Paul welcomed Julie Labricciosia from the E.L. Crossley Interact Club. President's updates: There will be a joint lunch with the St. Catharines South club on Wednesday April 18th. The lunch will take place at Club Roma and will cost $35. Please let President Paul know if you will be attending as the Club will have to prepare a single cheque to pay for all the lunches of those attending and collect your payment from you. Our club with be the sponsor for the August 23rd concert at the Fonthill Bandshell featuring the Blues Brothers Review. The Earlyact Club from A.K. Wigg held their winter hockey clinic on March 7th and raised about $2,800. President Paul noted that with 40 members their club has more members than ours. There will be a meeting on March 21st at the Welland City Hall from 6 pm-7:30 pm to discuss the International Cluster grant. Anyone wishing to attend the Rotary Leadership Training in Sandborn N.Y. on March 24th please let President Paul know as soon as possible. The Club will pay the $75 registration fee for anyone attending from out Club. Rose City Kids will be holding their annual fundraising banquet on March 31st at the Amici Banquet Hall. The cost is $44 per person. President Paul is trying to get together a table of 8, so please let him know if you will be attending, On Tuesday March 20th there will be a meeting with the Welland Club to discuss having a Membership Social in May. Penn Financial will host it at their branch in Fonthill. The meeting will be at Furtney Crysler at 5:30pm Barb gave us an update on the 8 computers which were donated to Niagara Peninsula Homes. She also asked for volunteers to participate in a session to advise on how to conduct yourself in a job interview. This will take place on Tuesday March 20th from 10 am - 12 noon at 41 Victoria St, Welland Pat spoke about the Slapshot program to promote Interact which will take place at the end of April. One Interact and one non-Interact student will be chosen from E. L. Crossley's student body to attend a leadership camp in Ancaster sponsored by District 7090. There will be a Friendship Exchange with South Africa taknig place in June from June 27-29 right after the RI convention. President Paul will advise what our Club will be expected to do once he has more details. Speaker The speaker today was Cathy Berkhout-Bosse founder of My Pelham.com which was launched in 2009. Today this has expanded to My Niagara online which also includes MyWelland.com and MyNOTL.com Cathy is a real estate agent with Remax and started the online forums to network, collaborate and share information about our area. She is heavily involved in all kinds of social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Since the inception of MyPelham.com there have been over 10,000 articles written, 5,000 events promoted and there are over 150 business sponsors and 100 community groups and service clubs participating. She encouraged us to maintain out commitment to publish an article per week and she will be promoting Mudfest for us in the upcoming weeks. It would be difficult to follow over 200 different groups so MyPelham pulls it all together for you. Cathy shared some tips for getting your social media sites noticed. Like , comment and share as much as possible. That will get the largest effect in promoting your social media posts. Carolyn is our Club's Facebook and Twitter guru and Cathy suggested there should be someone to back her up.
