Club Meeting Minutes
August 22, 2018
  1. What meetings will look like moving forward.  2 speakers per month, 1 open board meeting, 1 business meeting and lots of fun social get togethers throughout the year. Club runner will be kept up to date with meeting details and location so check often when you are not sure.
  1. Aug 23 club is sponsor of Concert in the Park.  Come out and join us.  Don’t forget your blue shirts and hats.
  1. Aug 29 meeting will be at Pelham Community Centre starting at 7:15am with breakfast being served.  Fort Erie Club will be joining us.
  1. Sept 12 Indigenous Education Event at Niagara College, Welland Campus 5-7pm
  1. Debate on Sept 18 at Fonthill Legion hosted by Rotary and Chamber of Commerce.  Chair of committee, Jody reported on event progress. Limit of 230 tickets on Eventbrite so if you are planning to attend, please register for a ticket even if you are volunteering.  Hall will only accommodate 240 people and we will not allow any more due to fire bylaws.  Hugh will ask Tim Horton’s to sponsor coffee and tea.  Legion will provide water.  Jody will connect with Carolyn for Moderator details.
  1. Cluster Grant planning meeting with Leo Johnson, International Chair Teresa Quinlin, Mel Groom and Frank Adamson Aug 23
  1. Thursday evening of Oct 4 Club members and family are invited to get together at the Fonthill Legion and play “Chase the Ace” game.
  1. Sept 15 Reminder that registration is open on Clubrunner for Rotary Leadership Institute being held at NOTL campus of Niagara College.
  1. Paul Harris Evening being held at Lookout GCC on Thursday, Nov 1.  Tickets will be $55 with choice of  chicken, pork or salmon and $50 for vegetarian option.  Annie is starting to plan the event and if you have any community suggestions for award recipients, please advise Mel  before Sept 20.
  1. Because Paul Harris evening is so late in the year, we are going to be more casual with Christmas party.  Paul S is looking at whether we can rent ice at the arena week of Jan 1 for a family skate.
  1. Tim Proctor asked our club to consider donating a table prize or sponsoring a hole for Rose City Kids golf tournament in September.  We voted unanimously to donate $65 for a hole sponsor.
  1. Sad news to report that we have received resignation notice from long time dedicated Rotarians, Ralph Winslade and Art Veldhuisen.
  1. The Bentley donor that Frank A had worked diligently with over the past several weeks has had second thoughts and decided to keep the car for the time being.  This is unfortunate because it would have more than covered lost Mudfest revenue and given us breathing room to plan new fundraising activities.
  1. Randy reported on our financial situation.  We currently have committed costs of $35,300 versus planned revenue of $21,700.  Bank balance of $24,828 will be encroached  for $11,228 to cover excess expenses.
  1. Paul Snack led that balance of the meeting to discuss optional fundraising ideas. More details on this discussion will be shared by Paul.
