Some planned, some serendipitous. All relevant. The Rotary Club of Fonthill participated in a drive by parade this Canada Day!

The floats were stationery and the usual sideline watchers drove by in their cars. Our Canada Day Chair had hours of Marching Band music downloaded from Spotify to replace the usual Canada Day's Marching Band. It kept 5 flag waving Rotarians dancing for three hours.

Celebrating our 30th Anniversary, we bookended our display with an Environmental project from 1991 - the Steve Bauer Trail Cleanup - with another more far-ranging environmental project from THIS year, 2021, (and destined to become an annual event) - the Great Lakes Watershed Cleanup. This latter cleanup was the brain child of our Immediate Past District Governor Frank who is also a member of our Fonthill Club.

Last, and not least, 2 of our 5 showed up wearing ORANGE T Shirts without consulting with each other and put up 2 ORANGE signs saying Every Child Matters in remembrance of and in support of reconciliation going forward for the recent findings at a number of Indigenous Residential Schools.

President Ann, 2021-22, had also mentioned the day before as the Gavel passed to her hands that she 'would like to work more with the indigenous community' this year. This is something that is close to her heart and that she's been instilling into ours. Truly combining worthy causes this Canada Day.
