Rotary Club of Fonthill hosts successful Purse Bingo for Pathstone

 

Pathstone Mental Health was perhaps the biggest winner when the Rotary Club of Fonthill hosted its annual Purse Bingo fundraiser in early November.

 

On the first Friday of November, the Fonthill club hosted a sold-out evening of fun at the Meridian Community Centre (MCC). Ten games of Bingo earned the winners one designer purse each, while a bonus game earned the victor a packed luxury basket of goodies. Sponsors and donors throughout the community made all prizes possible.

 

Each year, Rotarians select a different charity to which they donate all the proceeds. This year, they selected the Pathstone’s Satellite Clinic located right in the MCC itself.  Janet Cripps, a Rotarian and Program Lead of Student Services at E.L. Crossley Secondary School, shared that youth in the Pelham community find the local clinic handy and helpful. The need for support is great for youth throughout Niagara and Pathstone works to meet that need.

 

This year’s purse sponsors included: Shelly Marr Mouck of Colliers International; Meridian Credit Union; Debbie Pine of Pinesold; Troy Killick of CIBC Private Wealth Wood Gundy; Darcy Richardson of Darcy Richardson Real Estate Group; Frank Adamson of Kwik Fit Niagara; Cathy Berkhout Bosse of Team Berkhout Bosse ReMax; Terry-Lynn Adamson of Adamson Wealth Group; Marcie Bak of Kane Medical Aesthetics; and Pauline Oliver of Pauline Oliver Royal LePage.

 

For the luxury basket, valued at more than $1,700, gift certificates and items were donated by: Trina Moscato of Styles; Mossimo’s pizza; Kristen and Kathryn Groom of Rose Manor; Yen of JY Nails; and Friends of Rotary. The whole luxury basket was topped off with two pairs of gorgeous earrings, valued at $1,100 donated by Tamara Steele of Sapphires Jewellers.

 

The excitement was combined with an active 50/50 draw which saw a payout of over $900.

 

All told, the event brought in more than $11,000 for Pathstone’s Satellite Clinic – an announcement which was greeted by huge applause by all who attended. 

 

Co-chairs Ann Harrison and Mel Groom comment that “Our Rotary Purse Bingo is successful and sold out every year because of our community support. We are grateful to our participants and sponsors, many of whom have been with us from the beginning. This year was a record fundraiser, and we are happy to provide support to Pathstone’s Mental Health satellite location here at our Meridian Community Centre. Thank you also to our dedicated team of volunteers who ensure the evening flows smoothly and our bingo players have lots of laughs and fun.”

 

The Rotary Club of Fonthill wishes to thank all our Purse Sponsors, Luxury basket donors and of course all our participants, many of whom have attended each of the last four years we have run this event. Since 2022, our Purse Bingo has raised over $37,000 in monies which have flowed to local elementary school nutrition programs in both Niagara school boards, Pelham Cares, Niagara Nutrition Partners, as well as Pathstone. 

We look forward to our next Purse Bingo in November 2026.
