The Fonthill Club is excited to be off to such a great start by our ‘PODs’ (meeting organizing teams) for 2024.
We hit the ground running on January 3rd with Guest Speaker Nancie Taylor updating us on a Food4Kids Niagara Fundraiser! Nancie is a Food4Kids board member, enthusiastic supporter of youth programs, and her family are regular hosts for Rotary Youth Exchange. Learn more about Food4Kids here: food4kidsniagara.ca
Our Guest Speaker on January 10th was Irene Newton from the Ukrainian Canadian Congress. Our club has been a committed supporter of Relief efforts for Ukraine along with other Niagara Rotary Clubs. The UCC has most recently been awarded $1,500 funding from the club to help provide support for displaced Ukrainians as a result of the war in Ukraine. The cheque was presented at the meeting after an update from Irene. Applications for funds are considered twice annually by the Club: Community Requests for Financial Support
Our Guest Speaker on January 17th was Julie Andrews, CEO, Lincoln Pelham Public Library. The library has been a regular beneficiary of funds from our club, supporting the Rotary focus on literacy.
In February we have the following lineup:
- Feb 7: Jessica Stephenson will present an update on Niagara Nutrition Partners, followed by a cheque presentation
New member Sharon Pfeifer will be formally inducted into the club and will present on her work at the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Foundation - Feb 14: Colleen Smith and Sara Palmieri, FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre
