The Rotary Club of Fonthill, along with other clubs in District 7090, participated in a Day of Service as part of the District Conference.   Members had multiple options to choose from, each of which connected with the Environmental Protection Avenue of Service.

Some of our members joined the local Rotaract Club to collaborate with a local Conservation Area to plant trees at Binbrook Conservation Area.  The group was extremely excited to have the Rotary International VP, Valarie Wafer, join the event.  While members were in Binbrook, some stayed closer to home and participated in a clean up around the Town of Pelham.

Club members with their family members, cleaned up the Steve Bauer Trail system in multiple locations, Harold Black Park and surrounds, Marlene Stewart Streit Park and the trail system in and around the local Community Centre.  Our youngest “honorary” member, 1 year old Declan, helped his mother clean up near their home in St. Catharines.

Meanwhile Past Presidents Hugh (Fonthill) and Sandy (Welland) Graham participated in both Welland’s event as well as Pelham’s.  On the weekend, members also participated with family in the Trout Unlimited tree planting locally.

Following the clean up, members held a Covid appropriate social to connect and chat.
